Biking home at dusk, you can tell what room people are in by which windows are lit.
The eyes are the window to the soul. The rooms are the mind, heart, and body.

Tony Kramer, Director of Stanford University's dance department, once told our class why he enjoys riding his bike home at dusk. He said that as he rides down the street, he can see windows glowing with lights from inside people's homes. "You can tell by where the light is in the house, where people are in their houses." He made reference to the quote by William Blake - "The eyes are the window to the soul." He said, well, the body is like the house, and by looking into a person's eyes he can tell what "room" they are in their "house." That is to say, by looking into a person's eyes, he can tell whether they are in one of three rooms: (1) cerebral/brain, (2) emotional/heart, (3) physical/gut. Of course we are all in all three, but they are like dials, and we are usually in one more than the others.

Try it. Look into someone's eyes. Can you see the dials? Which room are they in?
